Contractor mistakes matzohs for patio tiles, stolen Thin Mints wipe away Girl Scouts’ sweet smiles, Costco shopper is cheated out of free trials.

Incident Insider: Scarsdale Police Report March 25-April 1, 2026

Stone mason matzoh mixup

A caller on Lincoln Road complained March 25th that her next-door neighbor’s stone mason had stolen 17 boxes of Streit's matzoh from her car while she was unloading groceries. Police spoke with the contractor, who said he’d thought the hard squares of unleavened bread were slate tiles purchased as a favor for his client. Unfortunately, he was unable to return eight of the boxes, as he had already used the matzohs to extend the backyard patio. Police advised the complainant to work it out with her neighbor or wait for a rainstorm.

Girl Scouts fracture two men’s shins

A caller March 27th said that a group of girls were kicking two men in the shins repeatedly. Police arrived to find the 1st Grade Daisy Girl Scout troop going all Chris Brown on a pair of young males. A troop member explained that the treacherous twosome had pinched a box of Thin Mints and three boxes of Samoas off the girls’ selling table in front of the train station. Police spoke with the men, who despite protesting their innocence had cookie crumbs in the corners of their mouths. The limping men were advised to apologize and pay for the cookies, and were then taken to White Plains Hospital for x-rays and casts.

Give me my tiny cup of pasta

A Mamaroneck Road resident March 31st complained that she was elbowed out of the way at a Costco free-sample station for Buffalo mac ‘n cheese. She had patiently waited her turn at the Yonkers store, she said, when a woman in an Athleta jacket extended her arm and grabbed the last plastic thimbleful from the tray. Police advised the caller to take jiu jitsu to prepare for the possibility of such an incident recurring.
